Introduction to Handguns

Patriot Training and Consulting presents the Introduction to Handguns Class, an introduction to safe pistol handling and shooting fundamentals. This class is designed for beginners and those who want to improve basic marksmanship skills.

VALID PHOTO IDENTIFICATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL FIREARMS COURSES.

Topics include:

  • Safe pistol handling

  • Handgun considerations: What's appropriate for you?

  • Basics of marksmanship

  • Firearms storage

  • Transporting firearms

  • Maintenance and cleaning

NOTE:

The course fee includes all instruction, targets, pasties, and other additional course materials and INCLUDES a $25 Range Fee. If needed, handgun rentals are available for $25, which includes a holster, mag pouch and 2-3 magazines. PPE, holsters and pouches for non-rented firearms may also be available in limited quantities for loan. Appropriate factory-loaded ball ammunition may be purchased from the instructor (when available) for an additional fee or brought to class by the student.

  • VALID PHOTO IDENTIFICATION

  • Handgun (true micro-compacts such as the Ruger LCP are not allowed)

  • Ammunition – 150 rounds (factory loaded or factory re-loaded ammunition)

  • Clothing: long Pants, closed-neck shirts, closed-toe shoes, brimmed hat, rain jacket, sturdy belt (double-thick nylon or leather preferred)

  • Water and Snacks

What To Bring:

  • Pen & Notebook

  • Eye & Ear Protection (Electronic hearing protection is strongly recommended)

  • Magazines (2-4 per student)

  • Holster (optional but recommended)

  • Magazine Pouch – 1 (optional; pockets may be used to hold magazines)

  • Range/Gun Bag or Case
